August 05, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A spat over a boyfriend early yesterday sent two Frederick women to area hospitals with stab wounds, police said.

Deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff's Office responded to a fistfight in Ijamsville about 1:40 a.m.

Police said Lauren Griffee, 19, of the 1700 block of Hillmeade Square fought with another woman after a party on Ritchie Court and was stabbed with some type of edged weapon.

Kerry King, 18, of the 1300 block of North East St., a bystander, was also stabbed. Police said they believe her assailant was a different woman.

King was treated and released from Frederick Memorial Hospital. Griffee was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment and was released.

The two assailants remain at large.
