An amazing adventure in Virginia cornfield

July 25, 2002|By Lori Sears

Are you the kind who never asks for directions? Well, good luck. You'll need it and a good sense of direction finding your way through the "Chincoteague Maize Maze" in Horntown, Va. Maze-goers will be armed with a PuzzleMap to help guide them, and if they're royally lost, the Mazemaster, perched high above the maze, will offer assistance. The 5-acre corn maze is open now through October on the Corbin Hall Plantation.

After the maze adventure, visitors can take hayrides, visit the petting zoo, explore educational exhibits, play in the sandbox, and if still craving more maze, try out the Hay Bale Maze or the Rope Maze. A food and picnic area is on site.

The "Chincoteague Maize Maze" is open now through Oct. 27 at the Corbin Hall Plantation, 36310 Corbin Hall Lane, Horntown, Va., which is 10 miles from Chincoteague. Through July and August, hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays-Mondays. September and October hours vary. $7; $5 ages 4-12; free for ages under 4. Call 757-854-4414.
