MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: Announced that arbitrator Shyam Das ruled Expos were free to assign P Graeme Lloyd's contract to Marlins notwithstanding limited no-trade clause in Lloyd's contract.

ATHLETICS: Recalled P Jeff Tam from Triple-A Sacramento. Optioned RHP Aaron Harang to Sacramento.

BREWERS: Traded IF Tyler Houston and player to be named to Dodgers for P Ben Diggins and P Shane Nance. Purchased contract of OF Izzy Alcantara from Triple-A Indianapolis.

INDIANS: Placed P Bob Wickman on 15-day DL, retroactive to Monday, with muscle strain in right forearm. Recalled former Orioles P Chad Paronto from Triple-A Buffalo.

PHILLIES: Placed P Robert Person on 15-day DL with shoulder and elbow pain. Purchased contract of P Brett Myers from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

REDS: Acquired P Brian Moehler, IF Matt Boone and cash from Tigers for IF David Espinosa and two players to be named. Exercised contract of manager Bob Boone for 2003 season. Placed P Seth Etherton on 60-day DL.

TIGERS: Recalled P Brian Powell from Triple-A Toledo.

TWINS: Activated P Bob Wells from 15-day DL. Optioned P Kevin Frederick to Triple-A Edmonton.

NUGGETS: Signed F Nene Hilario to three-year contract.

FURY (WNBA): Announced that coach Mouse Davis' contract will not be renewed for 2003 season.


WORLD BOXING COUNCIL: Announced that tomorrow's scheduled fight for vacant cruiserweight title between Vincenzo Cantatore and Wayne Braithwaite in Rome has been postponed. Organizers cited financial problems and did not announce new date.


GEORGE WASHINGTON: Named Helen Betancourt women's assistant rowing coach.


GERMAN CYCLING FEDERATION: Banned Jan Ullrich from sport for six months and fined him $1,400 after he tested positive for amphetamines. Although officially six months, Ullrich's ban expires March 24 to take into account winter off-season.


NFL: Announced that 16 new officials will replace 15 who retired and head linesman Sanford Rivers, who was fired for unspecified reasons.

BEARS: Agreed to three-year contract with offensive coordinator John Shoop.

BILLS: Signed CB Kevin Thomas, WR Rodney Wright and free-agent WR Delrico Fletcher. Waived LB John Duckett.

BROWNS: Waived DE Derrick Ham.
