Wilde Lake High Boosters seeking Hall of Fame nominees

The Wilde Lake High School Boosters Club seeks nominees for induction into its Athletic Hall of Fame, which recognizes Wilde Lake alumni who have continued in their endeavors.

A nominee must have graduated at least five years ago, have made a significant contribution in high school sports, have achieved success after graduation and be active in community life.

Central library plans craft program, book clubs

The central library is offering a children's craft program, "Let's Make Music," for ages 6 to 9 at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 1. The event will include making musical instruments. Registration, which begins tomorrow, is required.

"BOOK 'N' CHAT," a program for children ages 6 to 9, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 8. The event, "Will You Be My Friend?" will include a quick read, discussion and crafts.

"BOOK IT!" a new book club for children ages 9 to 11, will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 8. The group will discuss The School Story by Andrew Clements.

Registration for these two programs is required and begins Aug. 1.

Jazzy brunch: Don Miller Music Experience will perform a series of concerts, the Sunday Brunch Jazz Set, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 4 in Wilde Lake Village Center. 443-367-5123, or www.columbia villagecenters.com.

Line dancing: Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will offer a 14-week line dancing class for senior citizens from 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Oct. 28 at Florence Bain Senior Center. Pool party: The Wilde Lake family pool party is planned for Aug. 1 at the Running Brook pool. Entertainment, a raffle and children's games will be featured from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets, which cost $2, must be purchased in advance at Slayton House. Pool membership is not required, but the party is for Wilde Lake residents only. 410- 730-3987.

Rainbow Theatre: Wilde Lake Community Association's Rainbow Theatre will offer Nada Brahma's The World of Music, an interactive, ethnic music show for children and adults, at 10 a.m. Aug. 6 at Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Center. Tickets are $4; $3.50 for groups of 10 or more. 410-730-3987.

Luau party: Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor a Luau Party for senior citizens, ages 55 and older, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 8 at Florence Bain Senior Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way. Participants are invited to wear Hawaiian outfits. Registration is due by Aug. 1. The cost is $2. Those who want to stay for lunch should register in advance. A donation will be requested. Crab feast: River Hill Community Association will sponsor its sixth crab feast, an adults-only, all-you-can-eat event, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 17 at the River Hill pool, 6330 Trotter Road. Afternoon tea: Historic Oakland in Town Center offers afternoon tea from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the first and last Thursday of each month. Food will be served in the restored 1811 mansion. Tickets are $12.60. Registration is required. 410-730-4801.
