July 18, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A 15-year-old girl was listed in fair condition last night at the pediatric trauma unit of Johns Hopkins Children's Center after being attacked in her Southwest Baltimore home by two pit bulls, police said.

Police said the girl, whose name was not released, suffered lacerations from dog bites to her left arm, chin and lip.

Part of her lip was torn off, police said.

The attack occurred about 9 p.m. yesterday in the 1200 block of Sargeant St., police said.

Neighbors said city animal control officials arrived at the girl's home shortly after the attack and the dogs were taken into custody.

It was not immediately known what might have provoked the attack, but police said the dogs belonged to the girl's family.
