Public schools offer prepaid meal plans for county students

The Carroll County public school system offers a prepaid annual meal plan for parents who are tired of worrying about lunch money or packing lunch for their child every day.

Under the plan, students receive lunch every school day during the school year. (If purchased by Aug. 30, the plan includes a 10-meal discount) The cost is $272 for elementary pupils, $297.50 for middle and high school students, and $382.50 for the "super lunch" (high schools only).

If the plan is purchased by Aug. 21, the child is assured of a meal on the first day of school.

If purchased between Sept. 3-19, the plan will be prorated with a five-meal discount.

A breakfast plan also is available at schools that serve breakfast. The cost is $165, including a discount of 15 meals, if purchased by Aug. 30.

Refunds will be given for children who leave the Carroll County public school system. If the child participates in a field trip, the cafeteria will pack a bag lunch upon 24-hour notification.

To enroll in the plan with Visa or MasterCard credit card, call 410-751-3040 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. Checks payable to Carroll County Public Schools Food Service may be sent to 125 N. Court St., Westminster 21157, Attn. Food Service.
