Hampstead sets July 20 for bulk trash collection

Hampstead will offer bulk trash pickup to town residents this month.

The next pickup is scheduled for July 20. Residents are asked to place items for pickup curbside the evening before.

Items that cannot be taken include tires, paint and hazardous materials.

`Live and In Person' on the agenda at library

North Carroll branch library, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount, will offer:

"Live and In Person -- Spot" for all ages, for a half-hour at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. today.

"Live and In Person -- Froggy" for all ages, for a half-hour at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday.

"Live and In Person -- Maisy" for all ages, for a half-hour at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Monday.

"Introduction to the Internet" for adults, at 7 p.m. July 17 and at 10 a.m. July 20.

"Live and In Person -- Angelina Ballerina" for all ages, for a half-hour at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. July 17.

"Meet the Author" for ages 11 to 17, at 2 p.m. July 18. A mystery teen author will answer questions about writing and getting published and have autographed books.

North Carroll Book Club for adults, at 6:30 p.m. July 22 to discuss The Red Tent by Anita Diamant.

Cameras are welcome at the "Live and In Person" programs.

Hampstead resident receives key to the town

Sharon Callahan, branch vice president at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage's Hampstead office, was presented the Hampstead town key by Mayor Christopher M. Nevin, with an official declaration proclaiming May 14 "Sharon Callahan Day."

The Hampstead resident was recognized for the hours she has devoted to support the town and its business community.

Later, Callahan and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage were honored by Carroll County Education Association with a certificate of appreciation for their commitment in creating a business partnership with Carroll County public schools.

The brokerage office and Callahan are involved with North Carroll High School, especially in the school's Career Connections and Intern programs.

Callahan was the 2001-2002 president of Hampstead Business Association and was chairwoman of last year's 18th annual Hampstead Business Exposition. She initiated the Hampstead Beautification campaign and is a member of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

Manchester planning: Manchester Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall, 3208 York St. 410-239-3200.

Rec council meets: North Carroll Recreation Council will meet at 8 p.m. today at North Carroll High School media center, 1400 Panther Drive, Hampstead. 410-386-2103.

Church news

Lazarus United Church of Christ: A joint outdoor worship with a Lutheran congregation will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday with a mini-musical, Son Canyon River Adventure, by the Vacation Bible School, and the dedication of the new roof.
