Catonsville man honored for volunteer efforts
Community Health Charities of Maryland presented Mel Tansill with its most prestigious volunteer prize, the Joseph Forni Award, last month. The Catonsvllle resident is the senior director of public affairs for Erickson Retirement Communities and has been a CHC volunteer for six years.
Tansill also works with other Maryland nonprofits, including the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education, the Baltimore Museum of Industry and the Maryland State Poetry and Literary Society. Tansill also is a member of the Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, Public Relations Society of America and the Baltimore Writers' Alliance.
