Mystery Book Club to meet Wednesday at the library

The Savage branch library, 9525 Durness Lane, will sponsor a meeting of its Mystery Book Club at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The reading is The Echo by Minette Walters.

"Preserving Memories: Scrapbooking Basics," a program for adults and youths ages 12 and older, will be given from 10 a.m. to noon July 13. Participants should take six to eight photographs with a summertime theme and will complete two scrapbook pages during the session.

Indoor Beach Party planned for seniors

The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor an Indoor Beach Party for those ages 55 and older from 10:30 a.m. to noon July 12 at Guilford Senior Center in Jessup.

Beach tunes, treats and a sandcastle and sculpture contest are planned.

The cost is $2, including materials. Registration is due as soon as possible.

Summer concert series set at Montpelier Mansion

South Laurel Recreation Council Inc. is presenting its 24th Montpelier Summer Concert Series. The Maryland Community Band will perform Broadway tunes, marches and light classics at 7:30 p.m. July 12 on the grounds of Montpelier Mansion - Route 197 and Montpelier Drive - in south Laurel.

Those who attend can take a picnic and blankets or chairs to the free two-hour concert.
