Sadie R. Sparenberg, 94, Chester homemaker

Sadie R. Sparenberg, a homemaker and former Towson resident, died of cancer May 22 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. She was 94.

Born Sadie R. Driver in Baltimore, she was raised in Lansdowne and attended Baltimore County public schools. In 1928, she married Benard W. Sparenberg Sr., a photoengraver who died in 1994.

During the 1950s, Mrs. Sparenberg worked part time in sales at the Old Trail Nursery and Hutzler's department store, both in Towson.

She was a former member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Towson.

A resident of Chester since 1972, Mrs. Sparenberg was a member of the Kent Island Homemakers Club, United Methodist Women, and Kent Island United Methodist Church.

Services were held Saturday.

Survivors include two sons, Benard W. Sparenberg Jr. and Richard Sparenberg, both of Towson; a daughter, Madeline Larmore of Chester; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
