Bowie 7, New Britain 1: Matt Riley threw seven strong innings to get his first win since Aug. 26, 2000, helping the host Baysox defeated the Rock Cats.

Riley, who missed all of 2001 after elbow surgery late in the 2000 season, entered the game 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA. He gave up one run on seven hits, striking out four and walking only two.

Riley was helped by the inconsistency of New Britain starter Jon McDonald, who walked five and threw two wild pitches while allowing Bowie (12-35) to score four times in the fourth and take a 5-1 lead over New Britain (26-25).

Alex Gordon was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Cory Keylor was 2-for-4 with two doubles and his team-leading 25th walk.

Richard Bartlett (1-1) earned the victory in his second start with the Keys, surrendering five runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings.
