Norwich 5, Bowie 4: Pinch hitter Jeff Nettles singled home Mike Cervenak with the winning run in the eighth inning to lift the host Navigators. Cervenak led off the eighth with a triple to right against losing pitcher Jeff Wilson (1-2). Nettles, pinch hitting for Jason Kinchen, then singled to right to break a 4-4 tie. David Shepard (2-1) picked up the win, throwing one inning of scoreless relief. Jason Anderson notched his first save of the year despite walking two in the ninth. Andy Phillips had two hits, including his league- leading 12th home run, for Norwich. Cervenak, Kinchen, Kevin Reese and Clay Hooper each had two hits as well for the Navigators (25-16). Keith Reed had three hits and Doug Gredvig had two for Bowie (11-33), which has lost all 20 of its road games this year and 25 in a row on the road dating to last season.

Single-A Carolina League

Winston-Salem 3, Frederick 2: In his first appearance of the season with the Keys, right-hander Richard Bartlett allowed three runs (one earned) to take the loss, but struck out nine in six innings. Bartlett was 6-0 with a 2.74 ERA with Single-A Delmarva before being promoted to the Keys on Tuesday. The Warthogs scored all of their runs in the fifth inning. Brian Hickman scored the first run on outfielder Cory Keylor's error. Juan Piniella and Francisco Lebron each had RBI singles to account for the other two runs. The Keys came back with a run in the fifth inning on Mike Fontenot's sacrifice fly. It was Fontenot's 19th RBI of the season, tying him for the team lead with Eli Whiteside. In the eighth inning, Cory Keylor cut the lead to 3-2 with an RBI single. But Winston-Salem's Matt Smith entered the game and allowed no runs in the final 1 2/3 innings to pick the save. Tony Mack went 2-for-4 for the Keys.
