Police arrest 2 men in cigarette theft from gas station

Police arrested two young men accused of stealing cartons of cigarettes from a gas station at Westminster Shopping Center, state police said.

The theft occurred about noon Sunday. The men were arrested shortly afterward when police stopped a vehicle matching a description. The cigarettes were found in the car, police said.

Charged with theft under $500 were James Scott Bosley, 21, no fixed address, and Jason Ray Click, 21, of Westminster. Bosley was being held at Carroll County Detention Center on $15,000 bond and Click was being held on $7,500 bond.

Items stolen from vehicles parked at or near campus

Westminster police are investigating a series of thefts from vehicles parked at or near Western Maryland College during the weekend.

Three students reported items - valued from $122 to $520 - were taken from their vehicles between midnight Friday and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. A Union Bridge resident reported items were stolen and her vehicle was damaged while parked at the college. The loss was estimated at $1,420.

Police looking for man who stole woman's purse

Maryland State Police are searching for a man who snatched a purse from a woman Sunday afternoon in front of a restaurant at Carroll Plaza Shopping Center in Westminster.

The incident occurred about 1 p.m. The suspect is described as black with a medium complexion and thin mustache, 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing dark pants, a red sweat shirt, sunglasses and dark hat, police said.
