No. 1 Gettysburg earns spot in Division III final



Tim McGinnis made 20 saves and the senior duo of Ric Bremer and Pete Milliman combined for 12 points to lead No. 1 Gettysburg over No. 5 Washington & Lee, 12-8, in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III men's lacrosse championship yesterday in Gettysburg, Pa.

After a tight first half and a disallowed goal that would have pulled Washington & Lee within a goal at halftime, Gettysburg scored the first seven goals of the second half to seal the win.

McGinnis made 15 of his 20 stops in the first three quarters to help the Bullets (17-1) build a 12-3 lead. Bremer scored four goals and added two assists. Milliman scored twice and had a team-high four assists.

Matt Fink scored a team-high four goals for the Generals (14-4). Washington & Lee got 12 saves from Ansel Sanders and outshot the Bullets 44-37.

No. 3 Limestone 11, No. 7 St. Andrews 7: Freshman Robert Woody scored all three of his goals in the fourth quarter to break open a one-goal game, leading the Saints (12-2) over the Knights (10-7) in a Division II semifinal in Gaffney, S.C.

Nick Carlson scored a game-high four goals for Limestone, including a goal with 14:05 left in the game to break a 6-6 tie and give the Saints their first lead.
