Cale seeks Circuit Court clerk position

May 19, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Leslie Cale, a Howard County court reporter for nearly two decades, has filed as a candidate for clerk of Circuit Court. The post has been held by Republican Margaret D. Rappaport since 1990.

Cale, 44, a Democrat who opposed Rappaport in each of the past two elections, said she could supply "fresh ideas" to the office. She also suffers from carpal tunnel syndrome and said that, although she can still type, she "needs to look in a different area" for the future.

"I want the job and the only way to get the job is to run," said Cale, a court reporter for Howard County Circuit Judge James B. Dudley.

Rappaport filed for re-election this month.
