Talbot County man on stolen motorcycle dies in Lothian crash

A 21-year-old Talbot County man was killed Tuesday evening after losing control of a stolen motorcycle when a van crossed his path in Lothian, police said.

Curtis G. Neal died at the scene, according to police reports.

Investigators said Neal had been driving north on Sands Road at a high rate of speed when a Dodge van made a left turn onto Flanders Lane in front of him.

Neal locked the brakes and slid into the side of the van.

No charges are expected to be filed, police said.

The motorcycle had been reported stolen from Charles County, records showed.

Sobriety checkpoint to be in Severna Park tomorrow

Anne Arundel County police plan to set up a sobriety checkpoint in Severna Park beginning at 11 p.m. tomorrow.

Both sides of Ritchie Highway (Route 2) between Cypress Creek Road and Jones Station Road will be monitored until 3 a.m. Saturday, police said.

It will be the 23rd operation aimed at removing drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol from roads, police said.

Cardin plans meeting about retirement security

Rep. Benjamin L. Cardin plans a town hall meeting at 7 tonight at the Linthicum library to discuss retirement security.

Cardin will talk about steps to protect retirement accounts and how to prevent a collapse like Enron's.
