Dennis J. Lanahan Jr., 88, shipping foreman

Dennis J. Lanahan Jr., a retired shipping department foreman, died May 8 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital after complications from back surgery. He was 88.

He worked at the Revere Copper and Brass Co.'s Wicomico Street division for 35 years. He retired as shipping department foreman about 20 years ago.

Born in Baltimore and raised in Pigtown, he was a graduate of St. Jerome's parochial school and attended Polytechnic Institute.

He enjoyed refinishing furniture, reading mystery novels and following the New York Yankees and University of Notre Dame football team.

His wife of 45 years, the former Margaret L. Boyd, died in 1984. Mr. Lanahan lived in the Charlestown Retirement Community for the past 14 years, having moved there from Arbutus.

A Mass was offered Monday at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel.

He is survived by a son, Dennis J. Lanahan III of Catonsville; a daughter, Lois Wiesner, also of Catonsville; a brother, Charles Lanahan of Parkville; and five grandchildren.
