127th Preakness

Today's events

The 127th running of the Preakness Stakes is Saturday. A number of events are planned to lead up to race day. Here are today's events:

Flower Mart: Buy exotic flowers, watch a maypole dance while listening to music and enjoying a lemon with peppermint stick, Mount Vernon Square. 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Preakness Frog Hop: Frogs try to beat the record jump of 8 feet. The winner receives a trophy and pie. Patterson Park at the Pulaski Monument. Noon.

Cointreau Preakness Pub at Mt. Washington Tavern in Mount Washington: Chat with professional jockeys from Pimlico serving as guest bartenders for local charities. Free admission and nightly drink specials. Collect coupons and win VIP Preakness tickets. 8 p.m.

Miller Lite Nights: Party and listen to musical entertainment at Power Plant LIVE! All ages admitted but must be 21 or older to drink. Performance by the band Mr. Greengenes. 6 p.m.-11 p.m.
