A man was removed from a Delta Air Lines plane last night after making a threat when the flight was delayed, an airline spokesman said.

Reid Davis, an airline spokesman, said Flight 1446 from Atlanta was headed toward La- Guardia Airport in New York with 142 passengers. The MD-80 plane landed about 5:40 p.m. at Baltimore-Washington International Airport because of thunderstorms, Davis said.

When the plane was pushed back from the gate at 6:21 p.m., air traffic controllers informed the pilots of another hour's delay. That's when the passenger made the threat. Davis said he had no details of the incident.

The man was removed by officers from the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and the flight continued to LaGuardia. He was released after questioning by the FBI, police said.
