Hospital receives education grant to fight breast cancer

North Arundel Hospital has received a grant from the Maryland affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to provide free educational opportunities for African-American and Korean women younger than age 40.

The grant will enable oncology nurses, licensed nurse practitioners and radiation oncology technicians at the hospital to lead public seminars in the county. The seminars will teach participants about breast self-examination and provide information on the prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

Pocket guide available for medical information

North Arundel Hospital offers the "Emergency Medical Information Guide" to make sure people have medical information needed by health care providers in case of an emergency.

The pocket guide lists emergency phone numbers, and has space for information such as blood type, allergies, the name of one's physician and insurance information.
