Ruppersberger to speak at meeting of Democratic Club

Baltimore County Executive C. A. Dutch Ruppersberger, who is a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District, which includes parts of Anne Arundel County, will speak at the District 32 Democratic Club's monthly meeting Thursday at the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. for $4. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m.

Guests are welcome. The District 32 Democratic Club meets on the third Thursday of each month.

Baptist church to hold flea market and bake sale

The Community Baptist Church will hold a flea market and bake sale from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1 in the parking lot across from the church, 5917 Belle Grove Road.

Players to perform the musical `Oklahoma'

Merely Players will perform Oklahoma! at the Chesapeake Center for the Creative Arts, 194 Hammonds Lane in Brooklyn Park. Dates are Friday, Saturday, May 24 and May 25 at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

The play is directed by Eloise Ullman with music by Anita O'Connor and choreography by Vicki Smith. Tickets are $12, or $8 for members of the center. Information: 410-636-6597.


Library activities: The Linthicum library, 400 Shipley Road, has scheduled several activities, including spring celebrations, story time and songs and crafts for children ages 2 to 6. At 10 a.m. Wednesdays through May 22, parents and caregivers are invited to bring children to age 2 to "Babies in Bloom," a half-hour of stories, songs, rhymes and finger plays designed to stimulate early development. 410-222-6270.

For parents: Family Tree's Anne Arundel County office has scheduled a 12-week Positive Parenting Program from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through June 26 at North County Recreation Center, 196 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park. Child care will not be available. 410-431- 5340.

Cancer fund-raiser: American Cancer Society's Relay for Life is scheduled for June 7 and 8 at Lindale Middle School, 415 Andover Road, Linthicum. Relay for Life is an overnight team event to honor those who have battled cancer and to raise money for cancer research, programs and services. Volunteers are needed. 410-721-4304.
