Fender-bender leads to death of Pr. George's man

May 12, 2002

CLINTON - A Prince George's County man was killed Friday after he leaped on the hood of a car that drove off and then struck another vehicle during a confrontation over a fender-bender accident, police said yesterday.

A 28-year-old woman was also seriously injured in the incident, police said.

Brian Lee Ennis, 22, of the 9000 block of Buttons Drive in Clinton was killed when he chased the driver of another vehicle who had failed to stop after striking the rear end of the car in which he was a passenger about 9:50 p.m. at Woodyard Road near Dangerfield Road in Clinton, said Prince George's police Cpl. Robert Clark.

Ennis confronted the driver of the car that struck the vehicle he was in at a traffic light near the scene of the original accident, Clark said.

Ennis jumped on the hood of the 37-year-old woman's car, and the 28-year old woman, who had been driving the car Ennis was in, grabbed a door handle, Clark said, just before the 37-year-old driver sped off and hit another car, killing Ennis and injuring his companion.

Prince George's County police would not release the names of the two women involved in the incident.
