Recreation group to meet Tuesday

The Seniors In Action Recreation Council will meet at noon Tuesday at Westminster Riding Club. A meeting and program will begin at 1 p.m. Meatloaf will be served for lunch.

Lunch reservations ($8) should be made by calling 410-239-2125. No reservations are needed for the general membership meeting.

The public is welcome.

The riding club is at 366 N. Colonial Ave.

Senior Nature Club to hike Oregon Ridge

The Senior Nature Club will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Senior Activities Center.

The group will carpool to the Oregon Ridge Nature Center in Cockeysville for a hike. Participants should take lunch and a beverage.

Provider network meets in Westminster

The Senior Provider Information Network (SPIN) will meet at 8:30 a.m. the third Wednesday of the month at the Westminster Senior Center.

SPIN is a group of individuals who work with senior citizens in a variety of ways, from the senior centers, retirement communities, nursing homes, health care and more.

Westminster center announces programs

Westminster Senior Center has announced programs for members.

"Let's Make Music" will be held at 12:30 p.m. Mondays, featuring a hymn and folk music sing-along and bell ringing.

A Mother's Day Tea Party will be held at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

A book discussion group will meet at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow to discuss Sick Puppie by Carl Hiassen.

A Rubber Stamping Class will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Betty Lou's Progressive 500 Card Party will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The center will sponsor a bus trip Thursday to Essex Community College to see America Of Thee I Sing. The bus will leave at 10:30 a.m., with a lunch stop at Country Buffet in Satyr Hill Shopping Center, and return at 4 p.m. The cost is $25 and includes bus, lunch and show. The trip is for seniors aged 60 and older. Reservations are required.

Carroll County TRIAD will meet from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the center. TRIAD is an organization where senior citizens and law enforcement agencies work together to develop, expand and implement effective crime prevention and education for older residents.

Blood pressure screenings will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday. A discussion on depression will be held.

The center will hold a flea market from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Space rental fee is $5 for seniors and $8 for those younger than age 60. Reservations are required by tomorrow.

Hot dogs, chili dogs, kraut dogs, potato chips, doughnuts, coffee, soda and bottled water will be available for purchase.

A book discussion group will meet at 1:30 p.m. May 20. Check with the center for title.

Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. May 21. The menu will include ham, French toast, banana and beverages. Cost is a donation up to $2. Registration is required.

A Memorial Day Picnic and Cookout will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 28. The lunch menu will feature hot dogs and hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, lettuce, tomato, onions, rolls, dessert and beverages. The cost for lunch will be a donation of up to $3.34 for adults age 60 and older. Carroll County Line Dancers will entertain at 12:30 p.m. Lunch reservations are required by May 24.

North Carroll center planning health fair

North Carroll Senior Center will hold a Community Health Fair from 9:30 a.m. to noon May 24.

Tables will be available to local health care professionals for informative displays. Alternative health care practitioners are welcome. Spaces are limited.

North Carroll center announces trips

North Carroll Senior Center has announced trips for this year.

July 24: Pennsylvania Opry in Mercersburg, Pa. The cost is $45 and includes lunch at the Savoy Restaurant. The bus will leave the center at 10:30 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. Payment is due by July 3.

Oct. 13-19: St. Augustine and Jacksonville, Fla. The trip includes six nights accommodations, six breakfasts, four dinners and entertainment at Johnny Leverock's. Activities include a five-hour gambling cruise; tours of St. Augustine, Jacksonville and Savannah; and visits to Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach. A complete itinerary is available upon request. The cost for a double room is $420 per person. Trip insurance is available. Payment is due by Sept. 1.

Special accommodations must be requested two months in advance of a trip date.

Taneytown center announces activities

Taneytown Senior Center offers these activities for members.

A stamping class will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

A breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. A donation of $1.50 is suggested.

Bingo will be played from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
