Butterflies flutter by at Brookside Gardens

They're graceful and delicate and a sure sign of spring. Butterflies are beautiful insects with an amazing life cycle. Get up close and personal with them at Brookside Gardens' annual "Wings of Fancy" live butterfly show Saturday through Sept. 22. The show will feature butterflies native to Maryland and North America flying freely in the South Conservatory amid the shrubs and tropicals they use as nectar sources. Visitors will see the creatures in all stages of life, from eggs to caterpillars to chrysalides to adult butterflies.

The "Wings of Fancy" show runs 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily, Saturday through Sept. 22 at Brookside Gardens South Conservatory, 1800 Glenallan Ave., Wheaton. $4; $3 ages 3-12. Call 301-949-8230.
