Chamber accepting nominations for business awards

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its annual business awards. Seven awards will be presented from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 18 at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel, 80 Compromise St.

Awards will be given for Business Leader of the Year, Community Outreach, Nonprofit of the Year, Minority Business Advocate of the Year, Women in Business Advocate of the Year, Legislator of the Year and Environmental Awareness.

Nomination forms will be mailed to chamber members. Nonmembers can obtain forms by calling the chamber, 410-268- 7676, Ext. 106 or 110. Nominations are due May 17.

Resume workshops being offered by YWCA

The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County will offer workshops on resume writing from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow and May 14. Participants will review types of resumes, identify and organize interests and skills, and learn do's and don'ts of resume writing. The fee is $40 (YWCA membership required).

Workshops also will be offered on interviewing for a job from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. May 14. The fee is $20 (YWCA membership required). Workshops will be held at 1517 Ritchie Highway, Arnold.

Calico Corners reopens for business after fire

Calico Corners in Clock Tower Shopping Center reopened its doors for business this week after closing because of a fire.

Two temporary modular units have been set up in the parking lot of the Annapolis mall.

Small Business Week: WEB, a nonprofit organization that assists low-income and disadvantaged women, will sponsor a workshop from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Arundel Mills Retail Skills Center to mark National Small Business Week. "Taking Your Business to the Next Level with the 3 P's: Promoting, Partnering, and Planning" will feature Barbara Robinson, author and CEO of Star Associates Inc.; Allen Taylor of Taylor Made Transportation Services Inc.; and Dwayne Robinson, president and CEO of Vision Systems and Technology. Golf tournament: Crofton Chamber of Commerce will hold a golf tournament fund-raiser May 20 at Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville. The registration fee is $125 per golfer. 410-721-9131.
