No. 2 Atholton routs Howard, 11-2

May 05, 2002|By Kevin Van Valkenburg

The No. 2 Atholton Raiders played perhaps their best game of the season, fighting off a driving rain to pound out 12 hits in an 11-2 victory last night over Howard at Cedar Lane Park.

Raiders pitcher Katie Zitnay had some trouble gripping the ball in the first inning, and the Lions took advantage by scoring two runs off four hits. But from then on, Zitnay allowed only two hits and struck out five.

Kelly Kemp led Atholton (15-2, 13-2 Howard County) with three hits, reaching base twice on errors and scoring three runs.

Howard is 12-4 and 11-4.
