Community United plans Music Ministry with choirs and bells

Under the direction of the Rev. Harry Gray, music minister for Community United Methodist Church, the Chancel Choir and Jubilate Bells will present musical selections during the church's Music Ministry on May 19.

Also participating in the service will be the Praise Makers, made up of children in grades two through six, and the Wee Praise Choir, consisting of 4- and 5-year-olds.

The event will start at 10:30 a.m. at the church, 1690 Reidel Road.

Holocaust survivor: St. Andrew the Fisherman Episcopal Church will hold a Yom HaShoah, or commemoration of the Holocaust, at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, 1183 Carr's Wharf Road, Edgewater. The church has invited Holocaust survivor Leo Bretholz to speak and answer questions. Bretholz is author of Leap Into Darkness: Seven Years on the Run in Wartime Europe. 410-798-1533.

Blood drive: Galilee Lutheran Church is sponsoring a blood drive from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the church's Fellowship Hall, 4652 Mountain Road, Pasadena. 410-360-5469.

Mother-daughter dinner: Brooklyn United Methodist Church will hold a mother-daughter dinner May 11 at the church, Fourth Street at Pontiac Avenue, Brooklyn. Men from the congregation will cook the dinner and serve it to the women. Joan Randall will speak. The event will include musical entertainment and gifts for mothers. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the dinner is at 5 p.m. Cost is $5. 410-355-8740.

Bake sale: Pasadena United Methodist Church, 61 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, will hold a bake sale at 11:30 a.m. May 19 at the church. 410-647-3090.
