Clarence B. Hart Jr., 63, grocery dairy manager

Clarence B. Hart Jr., a retired grocery store dairy manager, died of cancer Sunday at his Severna Park home. He was 63.

Known as Sonny, he was born in Baltimore and raised in Severna Park. He spent nearly 40 years in the grocery business and retired last year from the Stop, Shop & Save store at Mondawmin Mall. He had worked for the old Food Fair and Pantry Pride chains.

In the 1980s, Mr. Hart was the lead guitar player for the Countertones, a band that performed at fraternal lodge events and wedding receptions.

He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Glen Burnie.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Barranco & Sons Severna Park Funeral Home at Ritchie Highway and Robinson Road.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, the former Janet Gerlock; four daughters, Lisa Hart, Linda Hart, Nicole Hart and Shannon Hart, all of Chase; a brother, Donald Lee Hart of Severna Park; two stepsons, James Allen Butler Sr. and Joseph Lloyd Butler Sr., both of Woodlawn; and two grandsons.
