Carl L. Nathanson, a Baltimore attorney, avid sailor and antiques collector, died of cancer Sunday at his Owings Mills home. He was 64.

Born in Baltimore, Mr. Nathanson was raised in Forest Park and graduated from Forest Park High School in 1957. He earned his bachelor's degree and law degree from the University of Baltimore and began his law practice in the 1960s.

Mr. Nathanson had his law office in the Courtside Building at 11 E. Lexington St., and remained in practice until his death.

His marriage to the former Marcia Pelovitz ended in divorce.

He enjoyed sailing the Chesapeake Bay aboard his 27-foot sailboat, Sou-Wester, said family members. He also liked riding his motorcycle, and attending flea markets and auctions, where he purchased antique toys and tools.

Services were held yesterday.

Mr. Nathanson is survived by his wife of 13 years, the former Patricia Christ; a son, Benjamin L. Nathanson of Owings Mills; a brother, Richard Nathanson of Hollywood, Fla.; and a grandson.
