Seminars offered at Atlee House

The Historical Society of Carroll County will offer a series of "In the Garden" seminars in conjunction with the Designer Showhouse 2002.

Programs will be held in a climate-controlled tent next to Atlee House on Water Street, New Windsor. Seminars are free with an Atlee House Tour Ticket, except for the vintage tea. Seminars are at 1 p.m. unless noted.

Seminars are:

Tuesday: Birds by Lynn Walter, Silver Fancy Garden Club; followed by Vegetable Gardening by Marilyn Potter, Mount Airy Garden Club.

Wednesday: How to Survive the Stress of Renovation by Elaine Buderer.

Thursday: Oriental Flower Arranging by Sharon Johnson; followed by Garden Design by Mary Ellen Bay, both from Carroll Garden Club.

Saturday: New Windsor During the Civil War by Jay Graybeal, U.S. Army Military History Institute.

May 7: Vintage Clothing by Sally Queen.

May 9: Architecture of the Period by Peter Pearre, Trostel & Pearre.

May 11: New Windsor Educational Day by New Windsor Heritage Society.

May 14: Historic Window Treatments by Barbara Kirkconnel.

May 15: Tussie Mussies by Ruth Myers, Mount Airy Garden Club; followed by Flower Holders by Joan Mann, Carroll Garden Club.

May 16: Herbs by Connie Hoge; followed by Mass Flower Arranging by Mary Ellen Bay, both from Carroll Garden Club.

May 18: A Collection of Old World Master Paintings in Early Maryland by Susan Pearl.

May 21: Antique Furniture by Merry Gladding-Highby.

May 22: Vintage Tea by Gypsy's Tea Room. Seatings are at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

May 23: Meet the Designers by Terry Wiley, Atlee House homeowner.

May 25: Historic Wallpaper by Christopher Ohrstrom.
