Mercy High set to break ground on $5 million addition

April 26, 2002

Mercy High School will break ground at 11 a.m. today on a $5 million addition, the first in the school's 41-year history.

"This addition is critical for our ability to meet the needs of our students," said Maria T. Johnson, Mercy's director of development. It will include a 700-seat auditorium, several classrooms, a dance studio, reception room, drama studio, choir room and a lobby that will be used for art exhibits.

A full day of activities is also planned today at the school, in the 1300 block of E. Northern Parkway, including athletic competitions and a volunteer appreciation luncheon.
