Gamber-area man, 60, struck, killed by six-wheeled truck

April 26, 2002

A 60-year-old Gamber-area man was killed yesterday afternoon when an empty logging truck apparently rolled down his steep driveway and struck him as he was walking, according to state police at the Westminster barracks.

John Carroll Kibler of the 3500 block of Nicholson Road was caught and dragged several yards before falling under the older model, six-wheeled International truck weighing more than 10,000 pounds, said Lt. Terry L. Katz, barracks commander.

Paramedics found the victim dead at the scene of the 12:15 p.m. accident after receiving a report of an unconscious person in the driveway. The state police Automotive Safety Enforcement Division will inspect the vehicle to determine why it rolled, Katz said, and the state medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to check for a pre-existing medical condition.
