Marguerite V. Fletcher, 79, homemaker, office

Marguerite V. Fletcher, a homemaker and former office worker, died of cancer April 19 at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge, Fla. She was 79 and had lived in Catonsville for many years.

Marguerite Mentzel was born and raised in Baltimore, and graduated from Western High School. In 1940, she married Lawrence A. Punte, a silversmith, who died in 1985.

Mrs. Fletcher had worked in sales at Hecht Co. and in accounting for Harkins Builders Inc. from 1970 to 1980.

A resident of Coca, Fla., since 1982, Mrs. Fletcher enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was an avid gardener and accomplished needlepoint worker. She had been a communicant of St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church in Catonsville.

Plans for a memorial Mass were incomplete yesterday.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin Fletcher; two sons, Laurence E. Punte of Ellicott City and Charles B. Punte of Street; two daughters, Anne M. Orthner of Annapolis and Joan C. Weimer of Westminster; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A daughter, Carmen C. Cochran, died in 1972.
