Carnival tomorrow at Northfield school

Northfield Elementary School, 9125 Northfield Road, Ellicott City, will sponsor "The Carnival of the Millennium 2002" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow.

Rides will include a jumbo Velcro wall that catches jumping children, a 40-foot survival obstacle course with an 11-foot rock-climbing wall, a sea-monster hide-and-slide and a 37-foot spiral slide.

A dunk tank to immerse teachers and administrative staff members is also planned. The school's faculty and staff have donated prizes for drawings that will include lunches, books, ice cream and certificates for winners to be principal and vice principal for a day.

The Blue Sky Puppet Theatre will present The Three Not So Little Pigs, and the Washington Children's Harp Ensemble will perform.

Among the attractions will be a musical instrument display, firetrucks, an ambulance, an antique police car, Sparky the Firedog, races and a version of Harry Potter's favorite game, Quidditch, to be played with levitating balls.

Representatives of the Howard County fire and police departments will be honored.
