Ronald Wright

Mervo, track

The junior sprinter ran two personal bests in winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes at last weekend's Flowers Invitational, which featured more than 25 teams from around the state. Wright won the 100 in 10.92 seconds, having clocked a personal best 10.85 in his semifinal. He crossed the finish line in 21.75 to win the 200.

In each race, he defeated Pikesville's Adam Grossman, the defending Class 1A state champion. Wright, a B-average student, also anchors the Mustangs' 400-meter relay team that has run an area-best 42.40 seconds. Wright also occasionally competes in the long and triple jumps.

Allie Sitton

Park, softball

The junior right-hander pulled off a rare feat by striking out 21 in a seven-inning game on Saturday, a 4-0 win over Towson Catholic. She missed a perfect game by giving up one walk. Earlier in the week, Sitton allowed just one earned run despite losing, 5-4, to Maryvale. She struck out 16, allowed two hits and three walks. Sitton also drove in two runs with a triple.

In 21 2/3 innings this season, Sitton has struck out 58, allowed just four hits and walked six. She is 3-1 and has a .323 ERA. Last season, she posted a .350 ERA as the Bruins went unbeaten and won the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland C Conference title.
