William G. Eager Jr., 86, Martin sales manager

William G. Eager Jr., a former Baltimore resident who had been sales manager at the Glenn L. Martin Co., died of pneumonia April 16 in Valdosta, Ga. He was 86.

The Valdosta native earned a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering in 1936 from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and began his career in 1938 as a draftsman at Martin's Middle River aircraft plant. He became director of naval sales for the company.

After leaving in 1955, the former Gittings Avenue resident moved back to Valdosta. He retired there in 1981 as a senior vice president of the brokerage firm of Robinson-Humphrey Inc.

Services were held Friday.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Dorothy C. Hopkins; two sons, William G. Eager III of Valdosta and Robert C. Eager of Potomac; a daughter, Josefa Beadle of Atlanta; two brothers and a sister; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
