Salisbury men win 8th title in row in CAC

Sophomore midfielders Scott Simmons and Ryan Shiley combined for seven goals to lead host Salisbury to its eighth consecutive Capital Athletic Conference men's lacrosse title, defeating Mary Washington, 18-7, yesterday in Salisbury.

With the win, the Sea Gulls (11-3) will compete in their 14th consecutive NCAA tournament. Mary Washington is 11-5.

Mount St. Mary's 12, Canisius 4: Kevin Merlini had two goals and one assist as the Mountaineers (5-9, 5-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) beat the Golden Griffins (5-7, 2-4).

Women

St. Mary's 5, Mary Washington 4: Meg McFall and Stacy Mann each scored twice as the host Seahawks (16-0) won the Capital Athletic Conference tournament.

UMBC 16, Wagner 8: Jamie Gerhart scored five goals to lead the host Retrievers (10-4, 7-0) over the Seahawks (11-5, 4-3) in a Northeast Conference game.

Monmouth 7, Mount St. Mary's 6: The host Mountaineers (7-10, 3-4 Northeast Conference) got two goals from Erin Gargan in the loss.
