Double-A Eastern League

Altoona 8-0, Bowie 3-2: Mike Paradis threw a shutout to lead the host Baysox to a 2-0 victory in the second game for a split of a doubleheader. Paradis (1-1) allowed four hits and struck out eight in seven innings. He held the Curve hitless through four innings. Bowie (5-9) scored in the fourth and fifth innings off Brian O'Connor (0-1). In the fourth, Keith Reed led off with a double. After Doug Gredvig walked and Ray Cabrera singled to load the bases, Reed scored when Wes Rachels grounded into a double play. In the first game, Dan Meier hit a three-run homer off reliever Derek Brown in the fifth inning to help power the Curve to an 8-3 victory. Baysox starter Matt Riley (0-2) lasted only three innings, allowing nine hits and four earned runs while walking three.
