Board of Education plans business meeting

The Carroll County Board of Education will hold a business meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Room 007 of the board offices in Westminster.

A work session on the Carroll County Commission on Excellence in Teaching will be held at 3 p.m.

The board offices are at 125 N. Court St. 410-751-3020.

Community college to hold open house Saturday

Students may explore the many courses and programs available at Carroll Community College at the Spring Open House from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the 1601 Washington Road campus in Westminster.

Faculty members representing all departments will talk to prospective students and provide information about their respective programs.

Financial aid opportunities and payment plans, distance and online learning, continuing education courses and career planning also will be covered. Tours of the college will be given.

At the Mid-Maryland Allied Health Consortium, Carroll County residents can take advantage of in-county tuition costs while attending certain health programs offered at Howard and Frederick community colleges. Students will attend Carroll for their general education requirements and prerequisite courses, and then apply for five seats reserved in each program for Carroll County residents.

Carroll offers physical therapist assistant and practical nursing programs. Frederick Community College offers registered nursing, respiratory therapy and surgical technology. Howard Community College offers registered nursing, emergency medical services and cardiovascular technology.
