Washington College men roll to 12-3 win

Third-ranked Washington College scored the game's first six goals en route to a 12-3 men's lacrosse victory over host Swarthmore in Centennial Conference play yesterday.

Senior attackman Craig Rentch scored off a feed from classmate Jon Fellows (three goals) just over a minute into the game to open the scoring for the Shoremen (10-1, 4-1).

Washington College closed out the first quarter with a last-second goal by junior attackman Eric Kuehn, who led the Shoremen with four goals.

Women

No.17 Johns Hopkins 19, Villanova 3: Senior attacker Erin Wellner had three goals and six assists and sophomore midfielder Heidi Pearce added five goals as the host Blue Jays (8-5) cruised past the Wildcats (7-6) for their third-largest winning margin in Division I play.

Washington College 18, Villa Julie 6: The 20th-ranked Shorewomen (8-5) spotted Villa Julie a 3-0 lead, but then used a 9-0 run in the first half and an 8-0 spurt in the second to get a nonconference win over the visiting Mustangs (6-7). Casey Sawman's six goals and Lindsey Eichner's three led Washington.
