Goldberg gives up her seat on `Squares'

There's a job opening in the center of Hollywood Squares.

Whoopi Goldberg is giving up the middle seat of the syndicated show she's held all four of its seasons.

She is also leaving as co-executive producer, company spokesman Arthur Sando said.

"We were unable to reach an agreement" with her on a new contract for the show's fifth and sixth years, Sando said Monday. He declined to discuss details of the negotiations.

Production on the current season ends May 5.

Benjamin Bratt weds

Benjamin Bratt, onetime boyfriend of actress Julia Roberts, has married his Pinero co-star Talisa Soto.

The ceremony took place Saturday in San Francisco, where Bratt was raised and owns a home, publicist Ina Treciokas said yesterday.

Bratt, 38, and Soto, 35, co-starred in the 2001 film about hard-living Puerto Rican poet-playwright Miguel Pinero, who died of cirrhosis at 41 in 1988.

It's the first marriage for Bratt, who dated Roberts for nearly four years until their breakup last year.

`Truth or Dare,' indeed

Madonna is getting her own game show. NBC has shot a pilot for the long-in-development Truth or Dare, based less on her 1991 concert documentary than on the adult parlor game.

NBC also is planning to revive Let's Make a Deal. Expect both game shows to premiere this summer.

Peters back on B-way

Tony award winner Bernadette Peters will return to Broadway in 2003 as Mamma Rose in the musical Gypsy.

At 13, Peters, 54, joined the show's national touring company as Baby June's understudy. But she got to perform on stage only as one of the "Hollywood Blondes," June's assistants.

Babyville

Former Melrose Place co-stars Josie Bissett and Rob Estes have a new roommate: a baby girl.

Bissett gave birth to Maya Rose Estes at 8:46 a.m. Sunday in Los Angeles, said her spokeswoman, Nancy Iannios. The baby weighed 6 pounds.

The couple, who have been married nine years, also have a 2-year-old son named Mason.

Bissett, 31, recently worked as a spokeswoman for Neutrogena and Estes, 38, had regular roles in TV's Silk Stalkings and Suddenly Susan.

Dog-gone good time

Tuxedo, in top hat and tail, was surrounded by pals when Fess and Marcy Parker threw the poodle a party to celebrate his 10th birthday.

Four-legged guests were served meals of "pawticular poochie delights," such as "doggone good meatballs" and "collie flower chowder," on china plates.

The developer and winemaker best known as television's Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone toasted Tuxedo and his friends in the garden of Parker's Wine Country Inn and Spa in Los Olivos, Calif., on Sunday.

"Did you see the table decorations? It's little dog bones. I think it's hilarious," said Daniel Boone co-star Ed Ames.

During the party, the Parkers also raised $2,000 to the Santa Barbara, Calif., Humane Society.
