Akron 7, Bowie 1: Billy Munoz hit a two-run single as the host Aeros scored five runs in the fifth inning to beat Baysox.

Loser Matt Riley (0-1) gave up seven runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Single-A Carolina League

Salem 6, Frederick 5: The Keys lost for the ninth tine in 10 games, falling to the Avalanche in front of 1,709 at Harry Grove Stadium.

The Keys threatened in the ninth inning with runners on first and second and one out, but third baseman Gary Cates grounded into a double play to end the game.

Salem came back from a 3-2 deficit in the third inning, after Keys pitcher Elvis Montilla hit Avalanche designated hitter Edmund Muth with the bases loaded. Montilla then threw a wild pitch to put the Avalanche ahead, 4-3.

Montilla (0-2) lasted just three innings, giving up four runs on five hits.

Frederick designated hitter Alex Gordon hit his first home run of the year in the sixth inning off Tom Stepka to cut the Avalanche lead to 6-4.

Single-A South Atlantic League

Delmarva 9, Hagerstown 7: Ruben Francisco hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead the host Shorebirds over the Suns.

Bryan Bass also had a triple and two RBIs, going 3-5 at the plate for the Shorebirds. David Farren (1-0) picked up the win, pitching two-thirds of an inning.
