Loyola women rout Drexel, 19-3, to earn top CAA seed

Morlang nets five goals for No. 6 Greyhounds

Eleven Greyhounds scored as the sixth-ranked Loyola women's lacrosse team trounced Drexel, 19-3, in a Colonial Athletic Association game yesterday at Curley Field.

Senior attacker Stacey Morlang had five goals and Rachel Shuck contributed three goals and an assist as Loyola (11-2) raced to a 14-1 halftime lead.

With an 8-0 record in the conference, Loyola clinched the top seed in next weekend's CAA tournament, to be held at Virginia Commonwealth.

No.16 Old Dominion 15, Towson 7: Sophomore Suzanne Wosczyna scored seven goals and added two assists to help the Lady Monarchs (12-5, 5-2 CAA) top the host Tigers (6-7, 3-5) in the first meeting between the two schools.

Only three players scored for Old Dominion, which took a 6-0 lead. Junior Danielle Hensil added five goals and two assists.

Kat Brady led the Tigers with three goals and an assist.

Lynchburg 9, College of Notre Dame 8: Despite Angela Ruocco's five goals and Erin Sturgis' four assists, the host Gators (8-5) fell to the Hornets (10-3) in overtime.

Men

Mount St. Mary's 14, Marist 13: Charles Hogg scored five goals and Josh Warfield added four to lead the visiting Mountaineers (3-8, 3-1) to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory over the Red Foxes.

Tom Dryer stopped six shots for Mount St. Mary's, which held a 38-27 advantage in shots.
