Donald E. Lebo, 72, insurance manager

Donald E. Lebo, a retired insurance manager, died of cancer Saturday at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson. The Timonium resident was 72.

He retired in 1990 from United States Fidelity & Guaranty Co. In his 36 years with the insurer, he was an underwriter, agent and Baltimore branch superintendent of multiperil lines.

Born and raised in Harrisburg, Pa., he attended York Junior College and Pennsylvania State University.

In the 1950s, he served in the Army during the Berlin airlift. He attained the rank of sergeant.

A volunteer at St. Joseph Medical Center, he also coached in the Loch Raven Little League.

He enjoyed hiking on the Northern Central Trail in Baltimore County and sailing the Chesapeake Bay.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Towson United Methodist Church, 501 Hampton Lane, where he was an usher and worked with its Boy Scout troop.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, the former Dorothy Smith; a son, David S. Lebo of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Donna F. Monger of Ellicott City and Diane Lebo Wallace of Ithaca, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
