Today's games

No. 3 Loyola (7-0) at No. 2 Syracuse (7-1)

Site: Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.

Time: 4 p.m.

Radio: WNST (1570 AM)

Outlook: Loyola could finally move up to that elusive No. 2 ranking in the nation, but the Greyhounds will be facing an angry Orange team that was dropped to second behind Virginia in this week's media poll, despite a 14-13, overtime victory over No. 20 Brown last week. The Orangemen are the top-scoring team (14.75 goals a game) in the country, but will be facing a hot goalkeeper in Mark Bloomquist today.

No. 4 Johns Hopkins (5-1) at No. 15 Ohio State (6-2)

Site: Jesse Owens Memorial Field, Columbus, Ohio

Time: 1 p.m.

Radio: WJFK (1300 AM)

Outlook: Hopkins will be playing its first-ever lacrosse game in the state of Ohio, taking a so-called break in its schedule against mostly Top 10 teams. The Blue Jays defeated North Carolina, 12-11, last week; the Tar Heels eked out a 13-12, three-overtime decision over Ohio State earlier in the season.

No. 12 Hofstra (6-3) at No. 13 Towson (3-3)

Site: Towson University Stadium

Time: 1 p.m.

Radio: WTMD (89.7 FM)

Outlook: Towson will need a minor miracle to make the NCAA field after its defense fell apart last week in a 15-7 loss to Loyola.

UMBC (3-3) at No. 9 Massachusetts (7-1)

Site: Garber Field, Amherst, Mass.

Time: 1 p.m.

Outlook: UMBC could do unbeaten Georgetown a big favor in its battle with UMass for the ECAC championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by upsetting the Minutemen (2-0 in the ECAC, while the Hoyas are 3-0). The revived Retrievers have won two straight ECAC games.

Mount St. Mary's (2-6) at Lehigh (4-5)

Site: Ulrich complex, Bethlehem. Pa.

Time: 1 p.m.

Outlook: The Mount is off to a 2-0 start in defense of its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title.
