Councilwoman Vitale to discuss rezoning of commercial bus lot

CAPE ST. CLAIRE - Anne Arundel County Council member Cathleen M. Vitale will meet with Broadneck area residents Monday night to discuss details of a comprehensive zoning map adopted this week by the council.

Some residents have expressed opposition to a decision to change the zoning of a commercial bus lot owned by John Lonergan from residential to industrial. Lonergan has operated his business, Chesapeake Charter Inc., at 424 Broadneck Road for about 20 years.

Vitale, a Republican, said she hopes residents and Lonergan, who is expected to attend the meeting, can come to an agreement on the site. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria of Cape St. Claire Elementary School, 931 Blue Ridge Road. Information: 410-222-1401.

County closes large section of supply warehouse

ANNAPOLIS - Anne Arundel County officials have closed a large section of a government supply warehouse in Millersville and replaced it with a "virtual warehouse" that they say could save taxpayers $3 million annually.

County Executive Janet S. Owens said yesterday that a portion of the warehouse, which housed supplies for county departments, including cleaning products and first-aid materials, will be used by fire officials.

County workers will now order supplies directly from distributors over the Internet. Information: 410-222-1288.
