Public schools' Employee Chorus benefit concert May 3

The Howard County public school system Employee Chorus will perform its eighth concert from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 3 at Centennial High School, 4300 Centennial Lane, Ellicott City.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for the St. Louis School scholarship fund in memory of Colleen and Erin Marlatt, who died last year in a tornado at the University of Maryland, College Park.

SAT, PSAT course slated at Long Reach High School

An SAT and a PSAT preparation course will be held at Long Reach High School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 13 and 20. Tuition is $100, and materials are $40. A portion of the tuition will go to the school.

Registration is open to all high school students.

PTA Council to award scholarships to graduates

The PTA Council of Howard County will award at least five scholarships worth a total of $9,000 to graduates of Howard County public schools.

Application forms are available in high school guidance offices. The application deadline is April 12.

Applications due tomorrow for rights panel student spot

Howard County Executive James N. Robey has announced an opening for a student, younger than age 18, to serve on the Howard County Human Rights Commission.

The student position on the 23-member commission is nonvoting and extends from July 1 to June 30, 2003. Applications must be received by tomorrow.
