Career fair to be held May 15 on lower level of International Pier

Baltimore-Washington International Airport will hold its fourth career fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 15 on the lower level of the terminal's International Pier.

Planners hope to draw more than 50 employers and exhibitors. The event is being sponsored by the BWI Business Partnership Inc. Co-sponsors include Maryland Department of Transportation, Southwest Airlines, HMS Host, Hudson News, ABACUS Security Services and Celebrate Maryland.

The Maryland Aviation Administration's Office of Fair Practices will fax registration forms on request to employers interested in setting up exhibition booths. The registration fee for booths is $175 until May 6 and $200 after that. Checks should be sent to the BWI Business Partnership, Inc., 1344 Ashton Road, Suite 101, Hanover 21076.

Participants are encouraged to use public transportation.

Runway closures planned for repairs, improvements

Late-night and early-morning runway closures are planned for the months ahead at BWI to make repairs and improvements as part of the airport's expansion.

Some runways will be closed between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. from April 14 through Nov. 16. The closures are planned so improved lighting can be installed on Runway 10-28, which is used for commercial jet traffic. Construction is expected to be done Sunday through Thursday each week, weather permitting.

BWI Airport Club is seeking members

Participants can learn about the airport, planned expansions, security and other issues. Meetings are held at area restaurants on the second Tuesday of each month and include a social hour, dinner and a program.

Applicants must be affiliated with and or actively involved in an organization that conducts business with the airport. Memberships are $15.
