Police investigate deaths of 2 men in unrelated shootings

March 31, 2002|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

City homicide detectives were investigating last night the deaths of two men who apparently were fatally shot in separate incidents.

In the first incident, the body of an unidentified man was found about 6 p.m. yesterday in Leakin Park in West Baltimore. It appeared the man had died from a gunshot wound, police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Daniels said.

Homicides detectives did not disclose where in the 1,200-acre park the body was discovered.

About three hours later, a man was killed in a burst of gunfire at Belmont Avenue and Longwood Street in Rosemont. Daniels said the man, whose identity was not immediately available, died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police had no suspects and knew of no motive in that shooting late last night.
