Ecumenical worship set for Good Friday, at Interfaith Center

The Ecumenical Worship Task Force of the Columbia Cooperative Ministry will present Good Friday devotional services, "The Seven Last Words of Christ," from noon to 3 p.m. today in Room 100 at Oakland Mills Interfaith Center, 5885 Robert Oliver Drive, Columbia.

An Easter sunrise service will be held at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at the Lake Kittamaqundi lakefront, near the People Tree, in Columbia. In case of rain or snow, the service will be held at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia.

Egg hunt, stories, songs are scheduled tomorrow

St. John United Methodist Presbyterian Church will hold an egg hunt, stories and a sing-along for children, ages 9 and younger, at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Road, Columbia.

Jewish Federation offers youth leadership grants

The Jewish Federation of Howard County is accepting applications for youth leadership grants from students in or entering middle school, high school or college. The grants are intended to subsidize attendance at Jewish leadership development programs.

The application deadline is April 15. Grants will be awarded at the federation's annual meeting June 5.

St. Paul Lutheran to hold egg hunt, crafts event

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Catonsville will hold a community Easter egg hunt from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., rain or shine, tomorrow.

Participants will have an opportunity to decorate a hunting bag for the eggs, make a craft, watch an Easter puppet show, hunt for eggs and win prizes.

St. Andrew's offering an alternative ministry

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Glenwood is conducting a ministry for people who would like to pursue a spiritual path but have not found it in traditional forms of worship.

Called "Journeys Community," the program offers an opportunity for discussion, fellowship and spiritual experience. Live and recorded popular music, movie clips, photographs and art, spiritual readings and meditations are focused on a theme each week.

Themes include "The Stranger at the Door Is God," "Forgiveness," "The Journey of Life," "Stress and Time," "Faith and Fear," "Do the Right Thing" and "Tolerance." Transformation is an overall theme of the service.

This week's theme is "New Life, New Hope" - a celebration of spring and hope in what is and what will be.

The group meets at 10 a.m. Sundays at Clemens Crossing Elementary School in Columbia.

`Redeemer' music drama at Bethany Lane tomorrow

Bethany Lane Baptist Church, 3030 Bethany Lane, Ellicott City, will present the last performance of its ninth Easter musical drama, Redeemer, at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

Clarksville church plans children's Easter festival

Linden Linthicum United Methodist Church in Clarksville will hold a community children's Easter festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow.

Free games, an Easter egg hunt, puppets and a visit from the Easter bunny are planned. Food will be available for sale.

Two child-rearing courses set at Shepherd of the Glen

Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church, 14551 Burntwoods Road, Glenwood, is offering two courses in child-rearing.

"Parenting Your 4- to 12-year-old" will run from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays, April 8, 15, 22 and 29. "Parenting Your Teens" will be held May 13, 20, June 3 and 10.The cost is $30. The Aid Association for Lutherans Branch 10433 will underwrite $10 of the cost for the first 10 families that apply.
